In September 2006 the idea for trolleys in Leavenworth was developed by local resident, Jewell West. By March 2007 the three trolleys arrived here from Chihoot, CA. These trolleys had been used in Lake Tahoe to transport travelers from the airport to the city and for tours. A group of local investors supported the purchase, delivery of the trolleys, and restoration of the trolleys by raising $35,000 for the project. The City approved and made the purchase of $12,500 per trolley in February, 2007. The Trolley Club of the Leavenworth Historical Museum Association sponsors these three trolleys. The trolleys were specifically selected to provide driving tours of the First City of Kansas.

Currently two 30-seat trolley (Trolley Tyme 2 + 3) is in operation and provides public weekly tours of the community. Passengers are provided historical background information by a recorded narration.
